about lynn tunmer

Lions and tigers and bears…oh my! For 19 years, I have worked with the wild things. Literally. I am probably the only Art Director in the world who can list “How to Catch a Wallaby” on her resume. It always makes for a good story over dinner.

But when I’m not busy tackling 30-pound wallabies in my high-heeled shoes, I’m hard at work thinking, developing, designing, creating and executing all of the Zoo’s collateral materials for marketing, promotional, fund-raising and educational purposes. With 1.2 million guests a year, over 65,000 members, more than 2,500 exotic and endangered animals of 350 different species from around the world, and at least one newly renovated exhibit every year, there is no end to the projects my eyes see, my hands touch or my brain thinks about.

Oh, we can’t forget the all-important social media aspect of this bio, can we? I work closely with the Online Communications Strategist to lend web-design support, providing graphic elements that to date have helped draw in more than 300,000 Facebook followers, 177,000 Instagram followers, and 60,000 Twitter followers. Not too shabby.

My skill set is vast…and I was taught by the best. Before the Zoo, I worked for 9 years at 30 West Advertising, a Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in-house agency, where I learned the art of organization. In my mind, organization is the key to a well-oiled machine. Oh don't worry, I fine-tuned many other skills too…how to build a comp that would knock your socks off, programming tips and tricks worthy of gold stars, and I’m best friends with the Adobe Creative Suite.

Is there a career goal? Absolutely! That mushy grey stuff between my ears? I want to use that and combine my knowledge, experience and dedication to deliver the best creative to my employer’s clients and their audiences. Period.

My passport is at 27 countries and counting. Kenya was 2013. Italy and South Africa was 2015. Costa Rica was 2018. The U.K. was 2021. I have no idea how to make coffee, please don't ask or I will look at you like a deer in headlights. Yet, oddly enough, I can bake a cake on a BBQ grill. I also raise chickens that lay blue and green eggs…yes, I have pets that make me breakfast.

Want to know more? Contact me…I'm pretty easy to talk to. And you might just find out what happened to that pesky wallaby.
